The health crisis has led to the development of online marriage ceremonies. The State of Utah, for example, has implemented a procedure that allows any couple, regardless of residence or nationality, to get married by videoconference. This article looks at this type of marriage and its recognition in different States, particularly with regard to the issues of venue and violation of public policy. It also presents an analysis of the situation under Swiss private international law and discusses a Zurich decision of August 2021 dealing with the issue.
